Ph.D. Regalia Attire

The University of California Doctoral Gown is in UC Blue with gold piping. The Doctoral Hood has a UC Blue velvet trim with UC Blue and Gold lining. The cap comes with a gold silky tassel but can be upgraded to a gold bullion tassel (Ph.D. Only).

Quick History of UC Davis

UC Davis is a public research institution founded in 1905. Considered a “public ivy” for its Ivy school-level quality of education, the University of California, Davis has one of the largest enrollment of students in the entire UC System. UC Davis’s campus has a fire department, an airport, and some outdoor sculptures referred to as Eggheads. The campus is known for their Arboretum, which is considered a public park that includes 100 acres of gardens along a waterway. The university has been classified as a doctoral research school.

Mascot

Gunrock the Mustang is the official mascot of UC Davis. He was brought in by the U.S. Army for breeding purposes in 1921. By 1924, he was adopted as the official mascot of the men's basketball team and made appearances at rallies and games.

Notable Rankings

The UC Davis graduate education consists of over 90 programs, offering masters and doctoral degrees and post-doctoral courses. The UC Davis campus is home to the most professional and graduate schools in the entire UC system. Some of their most popular graduate programs include law, education, medicine, veterinary medicine, management, and nursing. Roughly one-third of UC Davis’ graduate programs placed in the top 25 percent in their respective fields.
