UC Berkeley Lending Project

The CAPGOWN Charitable Initiative partners with on campus programs to offer free rentals to graduates that may not be able to afford regalia.  We believe all graduates should have the opportunity to experience graduation day after working so hard to achieve this momentous milestone in their lives.
If you are interested in this program for your University please contact us at info@capgown.com for more information.

CAPGOWN & UC Berkeley EOP Gown Lending Program Partnership

CAPGOWN has partnered with the UC Berkeley Educational Opportunity Program's Graduation Gown Lending Project for Fall 2017 Graduation! We are excited to be able to give back to the UC Berkeley community to offer first-generation,  low-income, and historically underrepresented graduate students free rentals of our premium UC Ph.D. Regalia.

The Graduation Gown Lending Project was conceived by the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)  in 2013 to help alleviate some of the financial burdens graduation expenses bring to students. CAPGOWN is thrilled to join this program to help Ph.D. students experience this special graduation day they have worked so hard to earn.

Application Process:

The application for Spring 2018 will open on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, and close on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 11:59 pm. Applicants should receive a confirmation email within two weeks after applying about whether they have been accepted or not.

The Graduation Gown Lending Project is a resource that is only offered to students that qualify as EOP. In order to qualify for the project, a student must either be 1) Low-income and/or 2) First Generation and/or 3) Historically Underrepresented. If you fall under one of these categories, then you can apply for this resource!

Interested Ph.D. students can learn more about the Graduation Gown Lending Project HERE and may apply HERE.

Approved graduates may try on our regalia prior to placing their orders.
